How can I randomize the list of questions while creating/editing assessments?

Randomizing questions from the assessment will help in providing a random set of questions under the same assessment for each attempt taken by the learner. Please note that there will not be a repetition in questions till the attempts onset of random questions exceeds the total number of questions added to the assessment.

For eg: If you have added 20 questions to an assessment and intend to randomize 5 questions from this attempt, the learner will get a random set of 5 questions till he completes the 4th attempt. From the 5th attempt onwards, there will be repetition of questions.

In order to randomize a set of questions out of the total number of questions assigned to an existing assessment, one can:

1. Click on "Courses"  in the side navigation bar.

2. Select "Content Repository"

3. Here, click on the "Assessments" tab as shown in the screenshot below.

4. Click on the drop-down indicated by three dots against the assessment for which you intend to randomize the questions.

5. Once done, click on the "Edit" option from the drop-down.

6. Here, click on the "Settings" button as shown in the screenshot below.

7. You can check the box against the "Randomization" option.

8. Once checked, enter the maximum number of questions you intend to include in the ranndom set out of the total number of questions added to the assessment.

9. Once the necessary cahnges are made, click on "Save".

NOTE -

  • Please ensure that the number of questions that you are adding to randomize should not be more than the total number of questions added to the particular assessment.
  • When deleting questions from the assessment, ensure that the questions in the random set is less than the total number of questions.
